Exclamation The Database Crashed -- Now Restored!
Here is the history of what happened.

  • 8AM EDT - Shane can not get onto site. Shane logs into Athena
  • Shane get's HDD Error.
  • Shane get's ThePlanet Attention. They look into it.
  • HDD is physically dieing. Shane goes 'OMFG'. Where are the backups?
  • Shane has trouble getting to them
  • Shane working with ThePlanet (from 11am to about 10pm) we install a new HDD, Recover Backups from Monday
  • Shane configured the new OS after ThePlanet's install of RedHat 5
  • Shane installs MySQL
  • Shane turns on Apollo HTTP and Athena MySQL
  • Shane posts here on the Battlestar Forum
  • Shane saves the day with ThePlanet's help.
The end. So with that.. we lost two days worth of data dating back to just this past Monday 3am. Backups are going to be made more often and not only are they going to be stored on the Athena HDD, they are going to our secondary HDD on Apollo where the HTML files are.

I'll be posting a huge notice on the top of the site for all users so people don't understand where posts are or why there username not be around if they registered in the timeframe of the Great Crash of 2009.

Sorry for the delay! Back to posting!
